I bought the car used in April 2010...2004 LS430 UL, pretty much all options. Outside of pulling my car apart to look for the satellite radio unit, how could I tell if the car has the unit installed?

It appears that it was a dealer installed option but still must work through the head unit. I would think that if you go to the mode button and look for a tab that says XM or SAT. If it is installed in the car it will be connected to the head unit of the stereo.

the sat tuner, if present, is installed in the trunk on the right side. on the head unit you should be able to see the AM-SAT button. that's a first clue (without that, you don't have sat for sure). press that to get to AM, then press again and see if you can get to SAT1/2/3. if you have xm tuner and everything already, i think you should be able to get into sat1/2/3 and then it will start playing the preview channel

I do have AM/SAT but pressing the button multiple times does nothing. I also checked around the inside of the car for an antenna, but I wasn't able to find one.

An antenna won't be inside, a tuner will. If you don't have an antenna on the roof or decklid of the car, and they're pretty easy to spot, you don't have satrad.
