Default Alarm sounding spontaneously

I have a 98 GS300 on which the alarm sounds without the system being set. The alarm cannot be switched off with the key and the only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery.
Question : 1. what might be the cause? 2 Where exactly is the alarm located? 2 Could I disconnect the alarm ?

Do you know if this is an aftermarket alarm or the factory?

Most common cause of false triggers is a bad door pin.

The door pin (or door trigger) is what let's the vehicle know that the door is closed or open. When the door closes, the pin get's pushed in. When the door is open, it pops back out. That being said, factory alarms do not generally have issues with door triggers.

Are you positive it's the factory alarm and not an aftermarket alarm you didn't know about being activated inadvertently? The factory alarm should be deactivated easily by placing the key into the lock on the door and turning it in the direction of unlock. Do not simply try to disarm it with the key fob.

If it is the factory alarm and there's no user error, there's not much you can do besides get it replaced. The unit that houses the "alarm" functions also controls door locks and if i remember correctly on that vehicle, power windows and such.

Get back to us with more details if you can.
