CarPC static/alternator whine!
Well, i've been putting up with this for way too long. In my SC, im running a mini-atx carputer in the trunk where the CD changer used to be. The music is powered by a 5-channel amp mounted on the fuel tank cover. I've been getting this really annoying whine that goes with my engine revs. I used to think it was cool until i realized if i wanted to play my music at lower levels, i usually couldnt hear it over that noise. Any help on how i can fix this? Its a ground issue i'm assuming.
Thanks,
Carlo

Yes, it is a grounding issue. Computers are extremely sensitive to interference from the car. Try grounding your computer's power supply to the same ground that your amp is on. If that doesn't work, you may have to run the ground wire back to the battery to eliminate the whine.
I had this on mine only during startup (it went away after Windows booted and the sound card initialized), and my CarPC psu was grounded just to the chassis inside the glove box. On my re-install I will run a ground back to the battery to see if that gets rid of it permanently.
