Im looking into a viper 5901 alarm system soon and would like you thoughts on refurbished systems. Is it practically new or should i stay away? I just feel kinda iffy about them.

Good advice on the Python, but as for refurbs, DEI's "refurb" is a bit different than some companies. So long as the case of the brain looks okay (AKA, not crispied from a carbecue), they open it up, put a brand new board in, close it, put the rest of the stuff that should come with it in new, and ship it off. I know that seems expensive, but they buy mass quantities of boards, and the rest of the stuff costs them very little. They keep the last 3-4% of the boards as spares just for this, and when they're gone, they're gone. At that point, they send out a whole new unit, remotes and all. Gotta love lifetime warranty if installed authorized and you keep your cars a long time like I tend to do. Most people ditch their cars well before the alarm starts having issues, and at that point, there is no warranty transferred (provided it was registered).
