GS Sub ?
I am sure this has already been discussed, but I don't have time to search for the answer.
On my GS, I had the stock sub pulled out and replaced with a 200 watt amp and a poineer 12 free-air sub. Problem- It doesn't hit hard at all. I talked to my audio guy and he told me there is a limit on the amount of bass the head-unit (factory) will sent to the sub. He said that he thinks when the bass starts to hit the head unit cuts the bass to the sub stopping it from hitting as hard as it should. Is this true? And if so, is there a way around it?
Right now I am talking to him about building a custom box and mounting it right where the original sub was located and changing the free-air sub to a normal sub of some sort...probably 12" planet Audio. Any suggestions? Commemts?
Thanks for your help,
Chad

While the signal coming from your radio is not all that strong its the amp and the sub that are causing the bass not to hit hard enough imo.
It really depends how loud you play the bass, what kind of music etc. If you wanted to stay free-air you could try a JL IB 10, it sounds like you want a lot of bass though in which case I would get a sealed or even ported enclosure.
As far as recommendations, what do you have now (part numbers, descriptions) and how much do you want to spend?

Right now I have a Planet Audio P100 .2s 200W Amp and a Poineer TS-W304F 12" Sub. I am thinking that I need to trade both of these in and get about a 400 to 600 watt amp along with a non-free air sub inclosed in a box nicely mounted where the factory sub is located. Do you think this would help?
