GS Nakamichi (Factory) Speaker Pics...
Here's a few pictures of the stock Nakamichi speakers for the GS. (1999) I finally got a chance to scan these for reference.
- door tweeter
- front door enclosure w/4" speaker
- front speaker detail (rear is the same speaker in different enclosure)
I guess I should take a shot of the feeble woofer as well.

Notice that the tweeter has a plastic crosspiece over it for protection, and you can also see the coating that is put over the dome, which appears somewhat tar-like, but isn't really sticky. I'm sure that stuff, whatever it is, affects the response negatively. It is probably meant to give the tweeter more longevity in the UV and moist car environment. I know of no other tweeter dome that is coated with anything that looks like this stuff.
