Question GEX-P7000TV Nav Video

Does anyone know what internal modifications need to be done to the GEX-P700TV so that it will work as a stand alone unit?? I have completed the IR receiver and LM1881 circuit but still cannot get the unit to output anything. Any advice would be great. I am sooo close!!

Thank you

I know almost everything to make the GEX-P7000TV work.

The reason your not getting output is the DSEN (display enable pin) on your monitor output plug (green port) needs to be grounded. From memory this is pin 11. Pin numbers are counted bottom to top, right to left. There is also a pin on the navigation input called NAVISENSE (Navigation Sense) that needs to be sent high (at least 2.5 volts) to let the GEX know you have a navigation system attached, otherwise it won't accept any input on the navigation plug (red). Navisense I believe is on pin 17. Let me know if you want these pins confirmed... I'll dig out the schematic.

P.S. A Radio Shack 276-137b IR eye will work with the GEX if they still sell it.

Thanks for the info. I would love to see the schematic if you still have it. There seems to be some confusion on the pins. There have been different pinouts posted.

Is the RGB composite sync on the shielded white wire or the brown in the purple, brown, pink, green shielded set???

Can the output of the 276-137b be directly tied to the purple wire or do you need to install a current limiting resistor?

Thanks again for you help

The composite sync is on the white wire inside the shielded white sleave. The RGB wires are inside the gray shielded wire.

The display enable is pin 12 in the connector, not pin 11 like I said above. Pin 17 for the navigation sense input is correct.

The radio shack remote IR eye can be connected directly to the purple wire for remote input. It also requires to have +5 volts and GND.

P.S. The schematic for the GEX-P7000TV can be purchased from Pioneer parts department. The phone number is on the Pioneerelectronics.com site. The pages are too big to scan and have way too much detail.

Thank you for your help VideoNavi.

Every thing is working except the on screen menu. I might try a different lm1331 just in case it is bad.

I do however get some harringbone style interference on the display when I plug in the red navigation cable. I am thinking my 5 volt power supply is possibly noisy or creating some sort of ground loop. Where are you getting your 5V power that is tied to pin 17?

Other than that it is awesome. The video is way better then I imagined. I have pretty much figured out the menu system without needing the on screen display.

Thanks again for all your help, it is really cool.

I meant the LM1881N. I shouldn't post so early in the morning.

You can get the + voltage necessary (i think about 2.53volts) to trick the NAVISENSE from the RGB cable. Check with a volt meter to identify this wire. The wire goes low if you wire up the orange dash light wire to your dash lights. So, DO NOT wire up the orange power harness wire if your going to use this wire. Keep your RGB wires a short and/or shielded to keep the picture clear of interference.

Glad you got it working..
