Default Radio Problems

I am having problems with the sound system on my 1990 LS400. Last night it was working fine and then there was a crackling sound and now nothing works (no radio, no CD, no tape.) I checked the two fuses associated the radio (under the hood and under the dash) and they appear fine. The panel lights work fine, but no symbols. The volume/on off dial still operates the antenna. Any suggestions?

Is your trunk wet? When the trunk weather seal fails its seems to dump water around the changer in your trunk.

I'm not a radio expert but because you heard crackling, i am thinking failed wires/connection (????) from the head unit. lets try your luck in the electronics forum.

Default Sound Problem

oceanguy,

I think you need to give a little more info. Does the radio turn on and does the display show any numbers on it? If yes to that then the amplifier located under the CD changer may very well have gone bad. What is the number on the cass door so I can identify the system you have? I will be waiting for the info.
