Default inverter, battery question

I just got new inverter. Mainly I'll use for my laptop but is it bad to use the inverter via cig lighter socket all the time? just worry about my battery would die soon.

i use an inverter also, but i haven't had any problems yet. if you're using your laptop in your car, then as you drive the alternator will re-charge the battery anyhow. so i think it would be fine.... i use it all day sometimes,, no problems yet.

i hope my info is right, but this is just based on experience. if you want, you can hardwire the power converter directly to your battery. that's what i did.
