Default amp install help

was installing a new amp i got today.. music plays for the inital 2 seconds when i turn the system on.. after that all i hear is the bass from the sub kicking.. does this mean i have wires mixed up somewhere?

i was running the headunit and speakers without the amp prior with no complications..

any one familiar with this issue?

This is a 5 channel amp powering your doors as well as your sub? I don't see how a wiring issue (unless you have a bad power or ground connection) causing all 5 channels to play for a couple of seconds and then you lose the 4 channels for the doors. Even then, you would likely lose all sound, not just the doors. Sounds like an amp issue to me. Any protect or other "warning" lights on the amp when this happens? Does it happen every time? If you power everything off and then turn it back on, does it do the exact same thing? What amp did you have in it before? Try putting that back in (if this is applicable) and see if you have the same issue.

It does sound like an amp issue more than a connection. However, I wouldn't rule it out just yet. If you can, check your RCA outputs from the deck. Change the connections around to see of output on the amp changes.

Did you get the amp on eBay? Reason I ask is there was one for sale a few weeks ago and was listed that the only channel that worked was the Sub channel and the rest had problems. I hope this is not the issue.
