Cigarette lighter removal for hardwiring Valentine radar
Does anyone know how to remove the cigarette lighter to get to the wire so I can hardwire my Valentines? I have a Lexus SC430 and a 2000 LX 470.
Thanks for any help,
Bill

When I hardwired my radar, I just cut the cigarette lighter off with wire strippers, and then stripped off the remaining wires and wired the 12 volt power supply to my fuse box (make sure you use a fuse that turns off when the car is off like the radio, dont use dome light) and make sure you ground the negative wire too. If you dont want to cut it off, you can get kits for it at best buy and stores like that where it has the plug in for your radar and the other end is just the two open ends open for the power supply and the ground.
Hope that helps.

Bill,
I see you did it already; but for anyone else...
On the ES300 - remove the shifter deck fascia plate. It pries out.
You'll see the ashtray chassis extends below the fascia plate you just removed. There are two hidden screws holding in the bottom of the astray assembly. A few clips hold in the top/sides.
Pull out the ashtray assembly, unclip the power lead from the back. Now you have a nice big hole in the dash, with power, for mounting stuff.
