Support of USB Stick
Hello,
I have different USB Stick and tested different format and size.
I found that the USB reader only support FAT32 and this wirks well with 4 GB USB stick.
I bough a new USB Stick 64GB, formtat it in FAT32 and upload the same files as on the 4 Gb Stick.
For any reason the uSB driver of the car can not ead the file.
I have a new Lexus RX.
Does someone have some experience with USB Stick?
Which format and size are supported?
thanks in advance
pascal

Certain devices will only read and recognize storage devices of a certain size. Even aftermarket radios, like my Kenwood Double Din DVD, will only read up to 16 GB from a USB storage device. If I plug something in that has more than that with only let's say 3GB of music, it won't read it.

I spoke to Lexus and they still say that the port is for charging cell phones and not for music or books, good luck
Also, do not use a stick with more that 16 gig memory

SanDisk Cruzer Fit 16 GB USB Flash Drive SDCZ33-016G-B35.
About $12 from Amazon today
Really small, like the USB plug is bigger than the memory.
No formatting needed, at least with Windows.
Works fine.

Do you know if yours is coming up as a "Local" / "Fixed" drive or "Removable" one?
Thanks!

dbs600, I read your problem, and some of the thread around it.
I don't know anything about "Local" / "Fixed" drive or "Removable" or how it can be determined - I haven't noticed any indication of that.
One thing I do note is that you're using WMA files - Mine are all MP3...don't know if that matters.
I was running Win8 at the time (downgraded to Win 7 Pro since). Just plugged the drive into the PC and dragged and dropped all the folders from my iTunes directory. I did not do any formatting of the flash drive. I plugged it into the car, and it did take a while to read everything. Never had a problem.
My folder structure is: Artist Name / Album Name / Track Number - Track Name, and the music shows up in the order it's on the flash drive. If it does alpha/num sort automatically, I wouldn't know, since my folders and files are all in alpha/num order.
Also, my BT connected iPhone 4s which has the same music connects and plays fine. Neither shows any album art.
