Default XM Radio Installation in RX300 w/Nav

Has anyone done an XM installation in an RX300 with Navigation?I've read some posts that an owner of an '02 ES300 could not do an XM install using an FM modulator because the Nav/Stereo uses a special kind of antenna plug.

Not knowing the exact details, but it's pretty unlikely that you can't adapt the particular plug type to work with the system. There are a few antenna plug adapters out there.

Are you saying that the Nav system's antenna uses a different antenna plug?

I have no idea. That's why I'm hoping there's soeone out there with a NAV in their RX300 that's added an FM modulator for XM. Thanks.

... an fm modulator wouldn't really be affected by an antenna plug would it? it just puts out a signal so that the antenna can pick it up it.. you'll lose the higher sound quality of xm this way though

No, it's not "affected" by the antenna plug, it's just that a modulator comes with a standard antenna plug or plugs, so that you can insert it into your stock antenna line without affecting the existing hookup.

i have a 1999 rx300 and i took the stock radio out while i was installing my new head unit and on the back of the stock radio on mine there is 2 antanas plugged into it. i do not have NAV but i would assume they wouldnt make 2 different radios for RX's with NAV and RX's without NAV. one of the antana plugs was a normal connection like any other i have seen, so i think you would be able to use the modulator with no problems. maybe the other antana plug was for NAV to use, i dont know i dont have it
