I searched and found some good posts on aftermarket HU installs, including this one:

Do I need TWO of these harness kits in order to avoid splicing any wires?

If I understand correctly, I need a six-pin and a ten-pin to make all the speaker connections at the factory amp location, and I need an additional connector to get my power/accessory/dimmer/ground immediately behind the factory HU.

Is this correct? Most people seem to splice into the wiring behind the factory HU and I would like to avoid that. Will this kit connect properly in both locations?
