Anyone know how to figure out polarity coming from source unit/amp?
I found my cars OEM system wiring diagram and its a bit confusing. On the diagram, it has the yellow as + and black as - on the left side but yellow as - and black as + on the right side. I want to know if there's a way to figure polarity coming from the source. I know how to figure it out at the speaker but not the other way around. Any info is helpful. Thanks.

I had to figure out polarity for my installation of a 3sixty.3. I followed the wiring diagrams for the most part. but I also used a volt meter to double check.
on volt meter when you test power (of say a battery for example) if you have the positive/negative reversed, it will tell you by showing a "-" next to the voltage it reads out. so I used my volt meter using the same theory. with ignition on, I read the voltage of the speaker leads coming from the amp. (should read about 6 volts I believe), along with those numbers if you see a "-" next to them, then you know you have them backwards. otherwise, you know which is which.

but to tell you the truth, for as much audio as ive done in my GS, i cant belive i never thought about what you just mentioned. I never checked what volume it was at. I'm assuming volume should increase with more output, so you'd be right. I didnt check what volume it was on when i checked with the volt meterer, however, i did this on two occassions; once about a 3 years ago and again just a couple of months ago and both times i got about a ~6 volt read out. it might've been a coincidence that the volume was around the same level both times, but considering how far apart each time was, im thinking maybe it always puts out 6volts. couldnt be sure unless i double checked.
