Default HELP !! My car is STILL at the dealer

Dropped of my GS on Monday 1/6/03 for condensation in the headlamps and poor radio reception problem. In addition to the reception issue the radio froze up on one occasion causing me to shut the car off in order to get it back up and running. Anyway, the dealer cannot diagnose the reception issue and has ordered a new antenna cable (which they could not find a problem with). It is on backorder and told me if they decided to replace the head unit it takes three to four days to get from Pioneer. They will not order the head unit until they replace the antenna cable . I asked them if they could order the radio just to have it on hand so I don't have to wait another week if the antenna cable does not remedy the problem. Here is my issue, when in college I worked for a car audio shop for almost three years installing radios, alarms, etc. Anyway, during the three years I never found a bad antenna cable. If the connections are clean and secure and the cable is not severed or pinched it is highly unlikely that the cable is at fault. Most of the radio reception issues had to due with the antenna itself or the head unit. Has anyone experienced a similar problem with their GS ? If so what did the dealer do to correct it ? Thanks

I had a problem with my radio in my 99 gs300... I would get static/silence from every station, and sometimes SOME stations would barely come in. Turned out they had to replace the whole radio due to some internal problem.

Thanks, that really helps. My GS is also a 99 and you would think they would just replace the radio first since I had other problems with it.
