Bluetooth???
Hi everyone.
New to this forum and just wanted to ask a question.
I recently took my 2012 IS350 F Sport to the dealership for its second service and they gave me a x type is350 as a loan car.
while driving the loan car I was playing with the audio system and realised that I could wirelessly stream music to the car via Bluetooth.
I jumped in my car later on to be a little shattered coz my car cant do it.
has anyone found a way or knows of anything available on the market to achieve this.
I also have heard of people being able to open and close windows/sunroof with their remote fob which I also cant do lol. any help would be much appreciated.

The open/close of the windows may need to be enabled by your dealership. I believe this feature to be turned off by default. As far as bluetooth streaming, your car can do this. Do you have navigation? And what phone do you have?

It has to havethe feture
I've a 2010 HS and I stream music from my iPhone all the time.
I'm very certain that your car has the feature too. You may need to sit down and poke around in the menu

Got to "Setup", select "Audio", select "Bluetooth Audio Settings", select "Register".
On an iPhone, you may need to go to your bluetooth settings on your phone at the same time. After selecting "Register" on the car, touch "Car Multimedia" on your phone. Give it a couple of seconds and it should register. Afterwards, you should see the "BT" tab lit up on your audio screen.

called my local lexus dealer and she said that the option only came out in a models from aug 2012 onwards. mine is built feb 2012 so I missed out.
she is unsure if it is a software or hardware thing though.
thoughts?
she said she will speak to the service dept on Monday and call me back re this issue

It must not be obvious how to get Bluetooth audio streaming to work since a few weeks ago I helped a 2010 IS owner get Bluetooth A2DP audio streaming working in his car. He didn't realize that his car came A2DP and was trying to get an aftermarket A2DP unit to work..

Unfortunately I just got a call from the service centre of another dealership who told me that the option only came out in late built is350 f sport models and there is nothing I can do.
maybe an aftermarket option will need to be sourced I think.

"Centre"? Obviously not a U.S. English spelling! In what country are you located? The link I gave you was for the U.S. market. Lexus vehicles sold in other countries can be very different from those sold here.

Yes, I assumed Victoria. It never ceases to amaze how car makers have seemingly endless variations in the equipment installed in vehicles they sell around the world.
If I was going to add a Bluetooth A2DP receiver to my aging LS400, it would be a Blackberry Stereo Gateway like this:
There is an older less expensive version of this Blackberry product but this newer one has been reported to work better. There are numerous similar products of other brands available.
If your car does not have Bluetooth A2DP, I assume that you are going to have control the streaming app from your phone whether you attach your phone with an aftermarket Bluetooth receiver or a 3.5 mm audio cord. If that is the case, then an aftermarket Bluetooth receiver does not seem all that useful.
