96 sc300 Audio help
I tried to search for solution, but didnt really find a solid answer.
So my sc300 is all stock, then i decided to install a Pioneer double din. Once i was done installing it i realized there was a ton of alternator whine coming thru the speakers.
I then figured out online that it was probably due to the Metra harness I used.
What I would like to know is how to i get rid of this annoying whine?? do i need a new harness? or maybe there's an easier fix im missing?

Hook the ground wire from your deck to the chassis somewhere instead of the harness. There are a few spots right below the radio. Just undo a nut on one of the bolts, sand/grind down any paint, and attach the ground there. I have the Metra too and grounded mine to the chassis. No whine for me and all factory speakers are working.

Thanks for the replies guys.
So what i do is connect the ground wire from the car itself to some sort of metal? Do i just leave the stereo ground alone?

No sir. Undo the ground from the stereo all together and run it to a bare metal spot on the car. Make sure to clean the paint away from it first. In other words cut the ground coming out of the stereo head unit and run it to a bare metal spot.
