For those of you that have ran a Yellow Top Optima for your primary battery, I was wondering how many watts are you running in your stereo systems, or if you have had any problems out of the ordinary (since it is a deep cycle, unlike the red top).
DaveGS4 - I remember seeing that you have a yellow top as your primary battery in your car, how is that working out?
I am currently running 1300 watts on my stock, and I know that will not last too much longer.
Basically I am wondering if one YT Optima will be enough for the current wattage I am running. The amps are a JL 1000/1 and a 300/4

i have 1600 rms, and i have optima as my primary. no prblems. at all. before with my old battery, if i started my engine with my sound system on. it would turn off for like 2 sec. but now with the yellow top the music continues to play from the ACC notch to the On/Start Notch

I'm running 2 JL Audio 500/1's and 1 300/4. I have always used a yellow top in every car I've gotten "crazy" on with audio. I'm also running a Alumapro Cap5 - 5 farad cap. So no dimming for me
This project has taken me about 3 months, I was running all soundstream amps and finally changed over to some REAL amps.

i haven't tried to drain my battery with the engine off yet. but you don't need to worry about not being able to start the car. your amps will automatically shut off as soon as it drops below a certain voltage. i believe 9 volts something when the bass hits. so if that happens you will still have enough energy to start the car

No problems at all to report - still works like a champ. Car starts up quick every time, noticable improvement in sound when I put it in as well. I don't have quite the draw on it that many do (only my single 5-channel Alpine V12 MVR-F357 amp for now), but no issues.
