couple issues with aftermarket audio. and compressors
Hello gents, the 2000 ls400 i purchased has twin viar compressors, and two JL amps, 1 for subs, one for speakers.
3 issues:
1) When the compressors turn off you can hear popping through the speakers. Im assuming there is a backflow of current when the compressors turn off and it is being channeled trhough the amps and into the speakers. Might explain why the mids amp is blown and the gent before me is using a backup amp.
-can i simply put a large enough diode between teh compressors and power distribution block in the trunk? Diode would face the compressors so when they turn off, no current will back flow into rest of the system?
2) The compressor sounditself varies at idle vs driving. even when you just apply the brakes the sound changes. Im assuming this is a current drop. I dont have a voltage guage but im assuming at idle voltage drops, so compressors take more current to run. Is this ok for the compressors? How can I make sure theyre always running at constant "load"?
3) I have static on the speakers. Not on the subs (not that i can hear anyway). If i put a low pass filter on the amp it definitly cuts the static lower, but can hear the low frequency of it. If i turn the gain to almost 0, there is next to no static.
-is this caused by a cheap amp (dont recognize the name), or is it picking up interfeence from somewhere else? The static is there no matter is compressors are on or not.
Sorry for the novel.
