Default Anyone using a Pioneer AVM unit with rear monitors

Is there anyone here with a Pioneer AV setup with rear monitors in their car? I have the DVD headunit, TV Tuner, Nav, and rear monitors. Currently all I can see in the rear are movies I play with the DVD headunit. I want to know if it is possible for the rears to also see everything the headunit shows. My installer said I can only see what is on the DVD, but the Pioneer AVM brain has rear monitor outputs.

Your rear monitors can't display exactly what is on your front Pioneer screen, because pioneer uses RGB signals between the AVM unit and head unit. However you should be able to have your rear monitors display TV, DVD and one other video/audio source that is plugged into your AVM and Video 2 input of the GEX-P7000TV. Here is how everthing should be wired.

+ Rear monitors plugged into GEX TV tuner rear video output.
+ DVD composite video plugged into both the AVM DVD input and Video 1 input of GEX (use "Y" type RCA adapters).
+ Other video source (such as VCR or Game system) plugged into AVM-Pxxxx AV IN and GEX Video 2 input (using "Y" type RCA adapters again.

Make sure your setup screens for both the GEX-P7000TV and AVM have the repective Video 2 and AV IN turned ON.

Can my Pioneer Navigation also be displayed? I can currently switch AM/FM, CD, DVD, TV, NAV from the AVM remote. Using your suggestion, will the display I see displayed from the AVM on my front headunit also display on the rears?

Thanks in advanced!

The navigation can not be displayed on rear monitors because it uses RGB signaling, unless you have the AVIC-90DVD navigation and are using the CD-RGB26P adapter. It has a composite video output jack. This could then be plugged into your rear monitors OR video 2 input of your GEX-P7000TV.

I have the older AVIC-9DVD model with the upgrade DVD. Does that matter?

That does matter, because the AVIC-9DVD only connects using the 20 pin RGB cable. The AVIC-90DVD connects to the AVM or GEX using the CD-RGB26P adapter and that has a composite video output. So you will not be able to place navigation video on your rear monitors.
