Angry I need help with my stupid Changer please

I have a 1992 SC4 w/ nak system. I came home yesterday from Italy and my mom had the cartridge stuck in the changer. I read some of the other articles and found out if you push the reset( small little button near the top) it will release the cartridge. I CD was kind of stuck in there a i got it out. Now when i put the cartridge it doesn't go down by itself. If i hold that same little button it goes down but doesn't load a cd The deck which was not responding at first now says "CD OPEN" even if i close the top. I don't know what to do Please help

i held this little button on the changer. the eject button doesn't work. now another twist is that if you hold the button the changer actually goes up and down and tries to load but doesn't load or loads every once and a while. tell me what u think

Philly,

Send it in and get it repaired. The only thing I would think you can do to restore the timing of the unit is to unplug it from the battery and then restart it from scratch. Sounds to me that there is a damaged switch or sensor in the loading mechanism.

mw read my mind. there is a sensor that is controlled by the door on the unit that will make the unit read "open" if it doesnt know it is closed. that seems to be problem number one. there are also gears that drive the cd forward and back that seemed to have jumped time possibly by a broken tooth. as far as what"you" could do, i would say not much given the nature of the error. parst for these are not very plentiful as far as new stock, but old changers, if you can locate one, may serve as a parts bin for repair by a qualified tech.
