Question Aftermarket NAV system recommendations?

I would like to add a touch screen NAV system to my car to replace the factory radio. It would be ideal for it to be just the screen with the brains hidden somewhere else. Does anyone make a system like this. I would like to be able to have just the screen molded into the spot where the factory radio is and then place the brains in maybe the glove compartment. Please help!!! Give me your thoughts and ideas!!

Kenwood makes those. Kenwood has won a lot of 1st places for their navigation and mobile electronics for the past few years. If you don't mind the ugliness (subjective taste issue) go for it. Clarion has all in one unit but it's a flip screen. Cool unit for the price though!

Would you or anyone have a picture of these units?

Kenwood Lineup:

KVT-910DVD

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...productId=2344

P-907

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...?productId=386

Both of them are touchscreens and they also have a couple of good looking touchscreen monitors that you can build ino your dash. Seen it donr, looks killer! Their navigation is best of the best and they get as many features as their JDM versions but I don't think they look that good.

Pioneer Lineup:

AVH-P6400CD

AVX-P7300DVD My long-time favorite:

AVH-P6400CD Looks amazing but menus are
Here is the unit in GS series Lexus

Their NAV-SYS900DVD navigation setup is also pretty good. I really love the idea of 3d nav option. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pi...,21555,00.html
My only two issues with the setup is ugly (subjective) 3d manus and no touchscreen option!

Lastly the Clarion Lineup:

VRX935VD

VRX835

VRX630

Touchscreen function and low cost! This has been the first choice of people who want more for less. I don't think they have NAV though. Only in their JoyRide system which cost way too much for what it is.

To summarize. Personally I would get Pioneer. Not the cheapest and does not provide touchscreen function but it looks so cool! For THE BEST navigation get Kenwood. It has all the options, good price and it looks descent. The touchscreen option is a huge plus. If I was to get just the DVD/CD/MP3 player in one but no navigation, I would definitely get Clarion. Just look how much you get for the price those units go on e-bay! Amazing! With that in mind you can hook up any nav to any unit and be set.

Retrodrive,

Thanks for all the great pictures and info. I am looking at getting this done very soon. I would like to have that Kenwood built in the dash with touchscreen. My goal is to get as close to the factory NAV system as possible.
