Where to mount rear tweeters
I have a 4 door lexus gs300. I have MB quart components up front and in the back. my front tweeters are in the stock location. but my back tweeters are hooked up above the door handle towards the front of the car. so its pretty much right behind the front seat belts. I really want to move my tweaters but still maintain a good sound stage when i put in my DVD player and not have it sound wierd. The reason why i want to move it is because when you sit in the driver or passenger seat its kinda loud in one ear and doesn't sound very even. i was planning to put the 2 rear tweeters behind the rear headrest. Will it sound wierd if the tweeters are coming from behind your head if you are sitting in the back??
BTW. all my mid's are door mount speakers i have nothing on the rear deck right now

that would cause the same effect its does where it is right now except with the rear passenger. i don't want it anywhere close to ears. the MB quart tweeters are very very sharp and loud.

I am not sure how they are called but rear a-pillars. Tune them down to the point where you can't localise them and you will have a wider stage or surround sound (depends on your application).

where should i mount the rear ones though. should i mount the on the "a pillar" in the back? i don't want to leave it in the same location because the back ones are pointing towards the center of the car. i want a new setup.

Yes, on rear a-pillars on the same level your ears are. Just make them face each other, that should work fine. The best way to do it is to connect them and experement with double adhesive tape. Once you find the best position, install the tweets.

rear tweets behind the rear headrests...
I will be experimenting with this setup. I'm planning to cut-off the tweets at some cross-over point so it doesn't pull the front image to the back. Just like retro said, hook them up and play with the angles until you find one that sounds nice. I'm planning to aim them at the rear windshield and hopefully have the sound bounce in different directions to create a nice rear fill.
As for the rear passengers, their soundstage will be comprimised a bit, but my overall goal to make the soundstage optimized for the front seats. It would be really hard to get a good soundstage for both front and rear passengers, so my choice would be to lean towards the front sounding better. But if you experiment with the mounting locations and angles, it might not sound that weird after all from the back.
