Default 92 ES300 CD Changer Question/help...

The other day I was disconnecting my CD changer because it was broken and I was going to have a friend take a look at it...So I disconnected it and now, all of a sudden the radio doesn't work...

Did the anti-theft come on and shut the radio down because I disconnected the cd changer?

Is there something I can check in the area that I might have hit?

If I put in a new deck, will I run into problems with the install because of the anit-theft problem (if that is the problem)?

I mean basically I had disconnected the two sets of wires connecting the changer before and this didn't happen.....Any thoughts?

THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM WAS OWNER INSTALLED ON THE LEXUS STEREO SYSTEMS . IT WOULD SAY CODE IF IT NEEDED A CODE. IF RADIO HAS NO POWER AND FUSES WORK THEN YOU MUST HAVE BLOWN THE OUTPUTS WHEN YOU DISCONNCTED IT. OUCH IF THATS WHAT HAPPENED. THE EQUIPMENT IS 13 YEARS OLD AND TODAYS STUFF LUCKY TO LAST A YEAR OR 2. YOU CAN GET WORKING USED HEADUNITS AND CHANGERS FOR CHEAPER THAN FIXING...................................................................................................................................................................................... I GUESS DISCONNCTING BATTERY THE ONLY SAFE WAY TO DISCONNCT ANY OF THE AUDIO UNITS.

I noticed that my CD cable (I don't have a CD player) is terminated in a dummy connector cap (one for each of the 2 connectors on the prewired cable. The cap shorts some pins together. I've also read that some earlier Lexus' had the dummy caps mounted to the dash frame near the glove box. The unused cable might have to be plugged into this cap to signal that the radio HU should carry on without the CD.

thats great news!! that could mean you just blew a fuse. THERE ARE 2 FUSES ON THE AUDIO SYSTEM. THE RADIO FUSE AND THE CIG/RADIO FUSE . SO YOU MUST HAVE BLOWN THE CIGARETTE RADIO FUSE.
