Question GS w/nav. Want to upgrade speakers and amp.

I want to replace the stock amp and speakers in my GS400 w/ nav. Could I simply pull the amp out and replace it with the aftermarket one. In that case would I need a 4 or 2 channel amp? Second could I just pull and replace the speakers up front and those in the back, excluding the sub. If so what size speakers would I need to purchase and how deep of a speaker can I get. Any issues I should be aware of before attempting this?
(I couldnt find the answers to some of these questions using "search".)

Thanks,

Jackco

this is what I am planning when I get some free time, since the amp and the nav computer will be in the trunk (all the audio signals are in the trunk for all speakers already from your amp installation), it should be easy to get an audio sense unit ($10), when it senses that NAV computer audio output, it will trigger a relay($2) to switch the driver door speaker wires to the NAV signal.
This is simple and quick. I just don't know how fast the sense unit can activate the relay yet, but it's simple enough to try, instead of adding new speaker.

Default WHAT to do

Yeah Im pretty curious about that device also ( to play DVDs on nav screen).

ANGEL what size speakers did you install? One shop says 6.5" another says 5.5" inches and this site says 4". I have no idea who is right.

Also I would greatly appreciate some advice from all of you out there, II dont know what to go for,

I have one shop quoting me $1k for MB Quart componants front and Coax. in back with a PPI amp.
Another $1k for kicker k6 componants up front, pioneer coax. in rear and pioneer amp.
Another $900 for an all pioneer system.

I am at a loss of what to do. I am thinking of just going with the MB Quart...whcih Ive had before and enjoyed.

Thanks all,

Jackco
