Has anyone installed an 8-inch midrange driver in the front door of a 2008 RX350 - to replace the OEM 6x9 - without needing more than a wood mounting plate.


I am looking at the Rockford Fosgate PPS4-8, 4 Ohm, 8-inch midrange driver. The mounting depth is 2-15/16, but with a wood mounting plate, I do not think that depth clearance will be an issue. A previous post showed 2-1/2 inches of depth available on a 2008 RX350 with the window down.


If it needs more work than just a mounting plate, I would probably lean towards the 6-inch version.

Went ahead and acquired a pair of 6-1/2 component speakers, so fitment should not be an issue.

I went the 6-1/2 component route and bought the mounting adapter from Crutchfield.

Where did you mount your tweeters: stock location, pods, other?

Stock location, believe it or not. They just BARELY fit. I created a LONG post about my build last week, but the mods haven't approved it yet.
