I'm doing a 10W7 into the back deck opening as well. I will post my results. Hope it turns out okay. I'm not looking for much output. Anything will be better than the stock unit.

I'm guessing that the spare is no longer there.

Unless you seriously under power that sub, you'll have plenty of output.

I'm using a JL 500/5 with 250 watts going to the sub. I hope it's enough.

Guru,

250 would be the minimum power you would want to run for a 10W7.
Below is the link to the JL site with ratings on their subs.

I'm currently running a 12W7 with the 1000/1 amp.

hi screwface,

i'll try to find the pics I took. its actually mounted in a box, firing up into the hole. (I know many people may not like that) I have styrofoam surrounding the sub to help port the air through the hole. Between the sub and the deck is about 3-4 inches. (Since the sub has a 3in excursion). Once I find the pics I'll post them, or just re-take photos.

I would say that 250 watts going to a 10W7 is not enough power, at least to really let the sub perform. I would go with a 500/1 on that puppy. I have a 12W6v2 with a 500/1 going to it, and it seems to match up perfectly.

Hey Chris, how does it sound with that sub firing upwards through the factory hole? Im thinking of changing some things around a bit, just trying to get some personal experience input.

Nice set up by the way!

Thanks sld. Actually it is mounted in a box under the deck. The rear deck would not be able to support the weight or movement of the 12W7. The box is actually 1.5 inches thick

sup tturbopimp,

the sub sounds really good, thanks to a piece of thick foam channeling the sound through the factory whole. Without that I don't think it would the sound would reproduce correctly. .

Thumbs up nice read

i have two 10w7' firing from my rear deck, and i must say it is loud as s$#t. I had the entire rear deck lid redone and rebuilt. The box is built onto the amp box in the rear of my trunk, its very clean and simple. I have the two 500/1's on the two subs and a 300/2 on the jl xr components. Head unit has the rear door speakers for surround sound when movies are going. But i love the sound, just going with more dynomat soon. Any questions? just ask

Lightwave76, that is a very tight and clean setup, I was thinking of doing something similar.

Few questions though:
1. Did you do anything to combat rattling and vibrations?
2. Are you using MB seperates or Coax's?
3. How many DB's do you think you're hitting?
4. And, do you think you could of squeezed in a 13W7?

Thanks.

Fireball, any pics of that set up? Im seriously thinking of dropping the 12, and going with 2 10W7's, same thing, both running off a a 500/1. I would love to see some pics of that rear deck.
