I tried to search but couldn't find the answer. I have a 98 GS400 w/Nav.

Do I have the Pioneer or Nak. Stereo?

the nakamichi amp mounts in the trunk the same place as the hard disc nav computer .so you cant have nakamichi and a nav system in your 98. the gs pioneer system amp is mounted vertially behind the glovebox. .......................................................................................................................................beware when your buying a cd changer for your 98 gs pioneer system. the nak cd changer is also made by pioneer so just because a cd changer says made by pioneer and came from a 98 gs doesnt mean it will work on a gs pioneer. if it is from a 98 gs nak system it wont work on the pioneer system. the gs nak changer puts out digital sound and wont play through the analog pioneer system. infact the nak system changer has a 12 pin connector and the pioneer only a 10 pin connector.

 

Thanks for your responses, I thought the my stereo sounded pretty good-I will have to hear a Nak. to know what I'm missing...

 

I thought my Pioneer unit sounded good when I first bought my 98 also, That lasted for about two months, then it was gutted and upgraded(except for the actual head unit/nav screen).
