Question Burned CD's

Anyone have trouble playing burned CD-R's in the Premium 12 disc changer?
98 SC300

Most of mine skip really bad so I am going to attempt to clean the lens with alchol and a Q-tip. Hope that works!

Use 91% iso alcohol. The 70% will streak and leave residue. Or you can use a product called "ECLIPSE" that's used for cleaning CCD/CMOS imaging arrays. No residue.

No problem with burned cd's, all 12 CDs in the changer in my 97 SC3 are burned CDs.

The brand of CD matters also, as I've found out. I have a 93 GS300 and it plays all burned discs fine. My friend has a 01 IS300, and his changer chokes on TDK discs (my preferred brand). Staples branded CDs, however, play without any problems in his car. Go figure...

Car decks in the late 90's usually do not have the capability to play CDR's, thus the skipping. Do not try to take it apart....find another 98 GS owner and find if their unit plays OK. IIf not, your unit is not compatible with CDR's. If so, send yours in for repair
