Darius,
we're gonna have to hook up again real soon.

This summer comes stage 2. High end audio, swap out speakers, add amps, outboard D/A, parametric eq. etc.

I am working with a High End speaker manufacturer to get some of their custom designed drivers in my car, they just got back from CES last week and impressed a lot of people with their home audio demo.

No off the shelf stuff for me !

I am about to start making a built in screen in my dash. I ahve to fit a 7" screen ans a Greddy e-manage in there so I will have to relocate my AC controlls into the armrest. Should be fun little project.

The Monitor is a 6.5 inch.

The system is controlled by a Pioneer AV brain via remote shooting at the IR window located on the lower right side of the monitor. You can control Radio, XM satellite, DVD, NAV, rear camera, access CD, Video Games, all on the remote. I chose not to use the Pioneer CD changer (That's another project), but if I had, it would of displayed Disc, track and title info on the screen as well.

The radio section is built into the AV Brain. The stations show up right on the screen. They even show Title of the song the station name and type of genre (If the radio station offers this information)

Can't respond often for the rest of this week. Got only a few days to finish and post a few more mods before the Carson meet.

Stay Tuned.
Hey RMM,
what pioneer model is that?
Do you know if they make that same screen/AV brain but with touchscreen

thanks

I think they might since INDGOGRL is getting a touchscreen NAV in her new IS, and guess who is installing.

I think that is the coolest install I have ever seen for the screen. I wish I had the woodworking skills you guys have. I have the electrical knowledge, but me working on wood is like watching 2 monkeys f*&%ing a football. Good work, you should be proud of yourselves...

Good job.....

Man, I wish my e-mail notification would work. I never knew I got any responses to this old thread. I blame it all on my AOL.

Thanks guys for the props.

CaMsGS3, I suppose it doesn't matter what equipment I used, since these are now old models and there are no new replacment equivalents.

You guys have it easy now with the Eclipse and Kenwood units. Get the double DIN dash piece and you're good to go.

Heck I was thinking about dropping the Excellon in place of my Pioneer stuff, but there's just too much time and money invested at this point.

RMMGS4, I just stumbled upon this thread. I'm very impressed by the work you've done to your car. I'm curious to learn more about the process to make the wood look like the stock plastic. It was mentioned in one of your other threads that it takes a lot of hand sanding, some bondo, primer and paint.

Could you please provide some more details such as:
* Type of wood used
* Brand of bondo, primer, and paint
* Tools you use to fabricate aluminum brackets
* Where to get the aluminum and other tools/materials (I have access to routers, saws, and other tools since a friend of mine builds decks for a living now)

I recently installed a supercharger kit on my IS300 and I'm trying to find a good way to install a digital display for a wideband I'm planning to get. Here's a pic of the display unit for the Zeitronix Zt-2 wideband:
.
Some people have actually removed the plastic casing for the digital display and created custom dash mounting plates. I may be interested in doing something similar to try to keep the stock look of my interior. That's one reason I favor the Zeitronix Zt-2 over larger analog gauges.

This is my first post at ClubLexus, so for anyone interested, I have some pics of my car here: http://members.cardomain.com/bchau_gt.

Also, hopefully I'll get to meet you and other members in the future since I live in the Bay Area.
Thanks.
