Hey i need some help
here is the deal
i'm thinking of getting a single JL sub 10w3v2-D4 which is a dual vice coil 4ohm and 300W.
wired in parallel this sub will produce a 2 ohm load.

i'm also looking into JL amp to drive this sub in particular 250/1 which is rated as follows: 250 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)
this amp is also equiped with auto detection of the load
here is where i get confused: manual for this amp states that if a load higher then 4ohm connected to this amp the power will drop by half with every doubling of impadance above 4 ohm.

here is the Q? if i conect one 10w3v2-D4 sub which produce a 2 ohm load will this amp produce 500w of power?? or am i missing something. i gues the question realy is will this amp be enough do drive this sub?

also if above is false can u sugest an amp on budget to drive this sub?

that 250 will work out great with that sub. When the manual states that the power will decrease by half if the load increases, they are talking about going to an 8 ohm load, not a 2 ohm load. A 2 ohm load has less resistance than a 4 ohm load.

JL amps will put out their rated power into any ohm load between 1.5 to 4 ohms. JL tends to underrate their amps as well so you should have more than ample power to run that sub.

JL makes some of the best amps in the business. They charge a premium for them but they are more than worth it IMO.

That amp will match the sup pretty good. After all they are the same company products. JL is not underrated but they meet their power specs during tests. They are good amps but there is nothing special about them at all.

thanks for the welcome. Hopefully Lexus will release their new GS this fall (finger's crossed) and I can join your ranks ASAP.

I do have to disagree with your assessment of JL products. I do think they are the shiznit (unless you want to spend twice as much getting Arc or Brax, which aren't any better IMHO). I have the 450/4 powering MB Quart QM's comps and DKD coaxs' and a 500/1 powering a 12W7.
