This happened to a buddy of mine. The acid got down in to the wiring harness and began to eat through the wires, one by one and short them out. It was wierd. we'd be driving and his dash lights would go out or head lights just at random times.

listening to the other people you might want to do an in depth clean to protect you wiring. maybe steam clean?

My dad had a battery blow up on him one time when he was working on a car. Said it left DieHard embedded on the cloth under the hood.

The battery on my BMW also blew up this past Sunday.

The explosion was so loud that it was thought to be a gun shot. The battery in my trunk (fortunately for me, the Germans placed the battery in the trunk area) was split in half and the acid was dripping like crazy.

My Dad tried his best to dump water and baking soda in the trunk to neutralize the acid in the trunk. He was unable to flip up all the mats because my subs were in the way.

Does anyone know if there's any other precaution that I should take to prevent the acid from eating my car?

Also, should I watch out for any possible damage to my electrical components such as my car's ECU, alternator, and better yet, the stereo system itself?

Thanks.

Jon
