HELP!!! STEREO - Harness Question?
Hey Everyone,
Im new to the forums, I have recently purchased a '99 GS400 and i have surfed the forums looking for a way to upgrade the stereo to adapt a DVD system. I have found the Autotoys dash kit .... which i have ordered But i cant seem to find any post detailing a harness or way to wire the aftermarket HU into the factory system. I have the NAK system in case that matters. If anyone can tell me if there is a post detailing this or someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

I'm in the same process. Here you go:
http://www.sfxaudio.com/products/ins...S300&Year=1999
Get the dash kit from TM engineering instead here:
http://www.tmengineering.net
They go for $17.50 shipped for CL members. I got it in 2 days and excellent service.

GS300? will that work on the NAK system in the 400?
Just checking to make sure that the harness you posted, its for a GS300? Will that work for my GS400 with NAK?

They should be same. At least the plug should be same. As for the harness not sure but I'm only using it for power, ground, etc. . .

Found a couple of harnesses...
I have found a couple of harnesses at autotoys... Im not sure if they will work or not.. they are somewhat vauge for what year / models they will work for. I am pretty impressed with the factory mids and highs (im not a complete audio freak i would just like to add a 10"JL w3 or something to that affect to enhance the bass. Idealy i would like to use the factory amps and speakers.... with a different Head Unit and an additional AMP and SUB.

You can actually add a sub and amp easily. This is what I did. Tapped into rear signals and made into RCA output. Connected to JL 500/1 amp to power JL 10W7 sub in trunk. You lose rear speakers but I never liked rear speakers anyway. Voila, sub system without changing head unit or factory amp. You can do similar thing with a 500/5 if you want an amp to drive everything or use new head unit to rear speakers and use 300/2 to drive seperates up front like me. It's all pretty simple really. Just takes a little time is all.

where did you tap....
Where did you tap into the rear signals? at the amp? speakers? any chance you could post some pictures? Are you still using the factory head unit?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

If your factory amp is in the trunk, yeah, just tap it there before it runs to the amp. That way you can run the unmodified signal to the amp you added and you new sub, right?
If for some reason that sounds bad you could tap the rears AFTER the stock amp but make sure your new amp has speaker level inputs because you will be using those.
