I have a 93 SC300 also. I dont know if they were all the same, but mine had a dinky 8" sub. So I attempted to squeeze a JL Audio IB4 10" sub back there. It sounded ok, but nothing great. I eventually just removed it all together and put a 10" sealed box in the trunk. Sounds a lot better. Just my 2 cents...

I've got a Pioneer TS-W254F on the rear parcel of mine, but it needed a spacer to fit properly. But it rattles the hell outta the parcel shelf if I'm not careful! I've jsut recently tuned the system and it sounds just like my old 12" in the boot, if not a bit better.

If you don't mind doing some custom work (just making a spacer pretty much) then I'd go with the Pioneer. It rocks!

sorry this might be a noob question but if i replace the stock 10 in with a aftermarket sub like lets say.. a jl would i need a amp to power it? Or does it have enough power already? also would i need to change the wires or could i use stock.

I am using a JL 10W7 with a JL 500/1 amp. Box isn't anything fancy but is sealed up to the deck firing through factory hole. Sounds incredible with WAY more bass than I ever imagined a 10 inch could deliver. Way overkill for me. I love it.

Yes, you would need to add an amp to power most after market subs. Go with a mono amp, insted of a 2 channel, they stay cooler (in most cases) & better power. You will need to use your stock wires to add a converter box if you plan to used the factory head unit. If you use a aftermarket head it will have outputs for your RCA cable (no need for the converter). IMOP, Kappa Perfects or JL w6,w7 will get the job done.

IT'S NO NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR STOCK SPEAKER WIRE, BECAUSE THE POWER OUT-PUT OF THE AMP& SPEAKER(S) WON'T AFFECT NOR BE AFFECTED BY THE GUAGE OF THE STOCK WIRES.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A SET OF GOOD WIRES, BUT THIS IS A REFERANCE TO THE TYPE OF AMP KIT YOU BUY. IT'S BEST TO GO WITH A BIG GAUGE AMP KIT (4 GUAGE) TO ENSURE THAT IT WILL HANDLE YOUR AMP'S POWER NEEDS. THERE ARE SEVERAL BRANDS TO CHOSE FROM, ONE OF THE IS THE MONSTER AMP KIT. THEY PROVIDE A QUALITY KIT THAT WILL BE BOTH SAFE AND EFFECTIVE.
