Default HELP! Dash and gauge lights don't work

I have a 99 GS300 with nav.

I wired my car for an amp last week. I tapped the accessory wire off the gray wire in the back of the nav.

Everything was fine until i realized one of the terminals off the woofer had snapped off and was swinging around. In the process, it hooked on to the other terminal. I realized this when my woofer suddenly stopped working. When i checked the trunk, the amp was smoking a little bit and found the 2 woofer cables touching. I disconnected all the cables and taped everything off.

I then went on vacation for a week.

I came back today and my car wouldnt unlock with the remote. i opened it manually and when the lights didnt come on and the car wouldnt crank, I knew the battery was dead. I jumped the car and tested the battery terminals with the car running. It read 12.93, settings @ DC,20v.

I got in the car to drive it around a little bit and noticed the gauges and other dash lights won't turn on. But the nav, dome light, and window buttons lights work. The speedometer, tachometer, and other gauge doesn't come on. Neither do the other buttons around the nav, the heated seats buttons, nor the VSC button.

I checked the fuses in the passenger kick panel and everything looks ok. I thought it was maybe the accessory wire so I hooked everything back up to the amp and the amp suddenly works now! Wierd. It got dark so I'm going to work on it some more tomorrow.

My friend mentioned there might be fuses in the engine that I might have to check. Are there such fuses?

Is there anything else I can check or do?

gauge lights goin out is sometimes a sign that a bulb is burned out it just something to let you know something isnt right like the blinker goin twice as fast to tell you one is blown the gauge lights go out if a headlight or running light was out on my old car. just a thought i might be and im sure im wrong but im bored so i thought id throw out the thought
