Default Contemplating a GROM VL2

Hello,
I'm new to the Lexus world. I recently picked up a 2014 LS460 Sport from my local Lexus dealer. So needless to say, I'm acting like a kid with a new toy.

So before I go all crazy and pick up a Grom VL2, I'd really like to from anyone else who contemplated doing this upgrade.

Mainly, I'm interested in understanding what you expected to get out of the system and if your expectations were met.

I'm a hobbyist photographer and love going on hikes and day trips. I use the Alltrails app, I expect to use the map apps, and I use Pandora as my main music app.
I think the built in map app with Saved Destinations is doable(I'm old enough to remember my Garvin GPS having a similar sync process), and could use the Iheartradio as a Pandora sub(although I'll need to create some similar playlists).
My buddies think I'm nuts upgrading the harddware so soon after buying it.
I'm stuck.
Your thoughts are appreciated,
Rodney

subscribed. I have debated the unit which gives you carplay vs the screen mirroring.

@bigsherv I purchase the VL2, and finished the installation on Tuesday. Love it!!! The actual installation of the unit was pretty easy since there's no wire cutting and the connections are pretty much a no brainer since there are few and they are unique.

The biggest hurdle was figuring out how to remove the passenger side panels/dash to get to the Navi Screen. Just google this and you'll find plenty of videos related to that. Just remember when you start to panic, that you'll find a lot more details on how to disassemble your car if you don't use "GROM" related keywords.

So now I'm working my way through learning how to use the mouse with some of these apps. Mine seems to be off a bit so I have to hunt when I want to "click" on anything app related.
The default Launcher isn't so pretty, so downloaded Car Launcher AGAMA. Very neat.. Do a search in the Google Play store. You'll find some different ones.
Good luck!

@gromaudio Great product! Tell Ken thanks for his help. We pounded him with questions during the install. He did what he could to help us out.

Are you running into any of the issues the guys in the LS460 forum encounter?

@bigsherv I've had one or two incidents of a black screen both times I had to unplug the unit. Otherwise the units been great.
Apps I use:
Agama car launcher
Waze and Google maps
Pandora
All trails
Pocket cast
Meet up
Gas buddy
IheartRadio

Regards,
Rodney
