Wattage output on RX 2010 - base, premium, ML
Hello all,
I have searched for hours/days, looking for the wattage output of, say a 2008 RX 350 or 2010 RX 350 ( I am looking at both). So far, I am seeing 132W output for the base/premium, and 300+ for the ML. Is this correct?
I am moving from a Subaru to a Lexus (hopefully). My Subaru (2003 Outback, L.L. Bean) has (I think) 300 watt output & 8-9 speakers. It also has an aftermarket Pioneer head unit, probably for the bluetooth. It's a relatively cheap Pioneer head unit (~$200).
I *love* the sound in my Subaru, and am now coming to believe I have become spoiled for good audio (I don't have a lot of money to burn though). I test drove a 2008 RX 350 the other day, turned up the radio when it was on groovy/bluesy music, and was so underwhelmed. After looking at my pics of the test drive car (especially the # of speakers in rear doors), I think it was stock, not even premium (only one speaker in the lower front door).
I am a newbie to all this audio stuff (though I am learning). When I was test driving the stock RX 350, it seemed like 1) all the sound was in the front, not all around me; and 2) the sound at 75% volume started getting distorted. Not so with my Subaru.
So, I’m guessing that…
1. The 'sound in the whole car' I want comes from more speakers? I know this seems kind of obvious, but there are all kinds of speakers/audio systems/settings…
and
2. The less distortion at a higher volume level comes from a higher wattage output?
So, does this mean that I should definitely be looking for an RX with a ML audio, especially for the wattage? Or might I be OK with premium audio?
/I mostly listen to calm music, at 20% volume (fair amount of treble), but sometimes I like to crank blues/rock at 80% volume (heavy bass) and get into the groove, hands waving around, dancing in seat etc.
Thanks
