Default Should I go with a stand alone DVD unit?

I would like DVD in my SC and I was thinking about a head unit from Alpine or Pioneer that had DVD/CD/monitor, etc. included. However I have been robbed once before (had a head unit stolen from my Accord) and I have noticed that a lot of these units lack a detachable face or some other theft deterrent device. Provided the thief got in the car I figured these would be pretty easy to steal and I wouldn't want to throw down a grand on one and come out to a car with shattered windows and big hole in the console again (like my Accord). I'm content with the stock system for now so I figured that maybe I could mount a stand alone DVD player somewhere out of sight in the car with a detachable monitor. I figure if the thiefs can't see the unit they will be less inclined to break into the car. Perhaps someone with a simular setup in an SC or other Lexus can give me some advice.

I'm looking at the Blaupunkt DVD-ME1, will I have any problem interfacing this with the stock Lexus Premium system?

Sorry for the lengthy post. Thanks in advance.
