I'm sure this question has been asked in the past but I can't seem to locate the proper thread.

I'm thinking about purchasing a 1996 Lexus LS400, the current owner advised me that the car has the Nakamichi premium sound system installed, however, all I can find on the nameplate is "Lexus Premium Sound System".

Any other telltale signes to diffirentiate whether it's a factory installed audio system or the optional Nakamichi premium audio system??

should be on the head unit. right on the front. also will be on the amp. perhaps even printed on the back of the speakers.

Assuming head unit means the "faceplate", nothing mentioned about Nakamichi; as mentioned earlier only identification I can see is "Lexus Premium Sound". Where is the amp located, will check back of speakers located in the rear truck for any name label or does anyone else have an easier method to identify audio system?

It will say Nakamichi right on the head unit, under the "Lexus Premium Sound" moniker. That one doesnt have it.

OK, there is nothing underneath the "Lexus Premium Sound" label so this is definitely the normal factory installed "standard" system.

Although "standard" this system is still heads above many other "premium car audio systems".

Added comment, in reading other user comments in this, I see many comments referring to "stock" Nakamichi sound system.

In the 1995 Lexus LS400, is the factory installed "Premium sound system" manufactured by Nakamichi or Pioneer as I originally thought?
