All speakers working but 1
Guys,
All my speakers are working apart from my passenger rear. There is absolutely no noise coming from it so I know that it isn't just blown. What steps should I take to find the culprit?? Do I need to remove the rear seat or can i just pull the speaker cover off??
Thx

All you have to do is pull the backing down against the rear in the trunk to get to it. test it with a voltmeter and see what it reads.

its probably just a wire... when you get back there familiarize your self with the rest of the wires back there cause you will soo be looking at them also...

i've been back there many times and i didn't see anything unhooked at the speaker, so i'm wonder if a wire was pulled out somehow at the amplifier...i haven't looked at that yet because i'm too lazy to take all that **** apart..

Voeltz,
From what I saw at the amp (replaced it 2 days ago) there are 3 connections going into it. I agree with you that it is a task that needs some patience, not to mention a 10mm socket!!! Good luck with it. I am just hoping that I don't have a wiring problem somewhere in the middle of the car. If so, I'll stick with my 3 speakers and be done with it!!
I am going to check out the speaker today and see what is up with it. Good luck

onelasttry,
The car is better than ever! The new paint is gorgeous, the new tires are amazing, new timing belt, brake pads, etc... I never actually realized how much a difference in tires makes! I bought a set of Dunlop SP Sport A2 and the ride has changed drastically! Quieter, smoother, crisp handling...now my eibach's actually feel goood! BUt yeah, i'm actually thinking about selling it again I want to build a recording studio and I need the money to buy equipment, but we'll see. Everytime I drive my car and look at it in the driveway I think, "Dang, that's one nice car, why would I ever want to get rid of it?" But i'm a recording studio geek and I really want to build my own. I dunno...

To elaborate on what onelasttry said, by removing the inner trunk panel, you can get access to the wires feeding the speaker. By attaching a speaker that you know to be working, you can see if the prob is the speaker or amp/wiring. Probably the former- many of us have had blown rears. Then of course, the rear seat has to come out.
The good news is you need not buy a Lexus replacement speaker- with a little bit of drilling and fabrication, most 4", 5.25" and 6.5" automotive speakers can fit in that location.
