Default My System upgrade for 2000 RX300

I just completed my phase 2 upgrade. Phase 1 was the installation of a 10" JL Audio 10W0+box, Kicker 150.2 2ch amp(sub), MTX Thunder 8000 8.5 5.25" components up front, Infinity Reference 652i coaxials in rear, Sony XPlod 1505SX 5ch amp (had it laying around).

Now for phase 2 I had a custom box built for a new JL Audio 10W3 (check out the pics!) and replaced the MTX components with a set of CDT Audio CL-61a's.

It sounds killer even with a Sony amp!

The custom box is made entirely out of fiberglass and allows me to use the rear hatch area and still get to my spare tire.

What do you guys think?

Door prepared with Dynamat extreme and new speaker wire. I think I'm going to have to Dynamat the entire door.

Thanks,

The box was made by a local custom shop and they used some foam cut out like the lexus logo then covered by the vinyl. The carpet color match looks off in the photo but uner any sun or normal light it's exact. Weird how the digital camera made it look slightly off shade.

I also ordered a new Eclipse 4 channel amp to replace the Sony amp. Should make for a more powerful, cleaner sound

Not too shabby , it looks good.

I would sound deaden the whole door though, doing just a little section may not be very noticeable. Look into RAAMmat, practically the same product as Dynomat extreme, but much less $.

Thanks Earl!,

I am going to do the entire door, just haven't yet. Where can you get RAAMmat? I've seen it on ebay, but is it available anywhere else? I still have a bunch of Dynamat Extreme left so I'll finish using that, but I will still need more.

Definitely use up what you have. Here are some the links:

It's $79 per roll, and you get a LOT of material for that. I used two rolls and covered nearly my entire car, check out my gallery .

It's nice of what you did for the sub. However, I didn't really like where the tweeter is poisitioned. You have to drill a hole on the door panel. The stock tweeter location is where I have mine. You can take the stock tweeter out and pop ur CDT tweeter in the same location. All the stock mounting brackets can be used back. The sound is even better up higher.

yea i was wondering why you placed the tweeter there, thats a perfect spot for a mid. on a 3 way component system. plent of room behind it to make it enclosed

Thanks for the constructive critisizm. I DO appreciate it.....A&^%$$#S! LOL, just kidding. I thought of that before I did it, but decided to put it in the door anyways. I can get a hold of a couple door panels and move them to the stock location, but probrably won't for a while. Hind sight is always 20/20 and I do wish I did it that way from the beginning.

Oh well, you live and learn. Next time.

Nice install! Where did you put your amps? Also, just from looking at the pictures I'm not clear on where that MDF baffle goes. Do you have any pictures of it installed in the door?
