No album art while driving my 2020 RX350? Seriously, Lexus?
My new RX350 with the standard audio system and no navigation removes the album art from the video screen as soon as the vehicle is shifted into Drive. What the hell? The album art displays fine in Park but not while driving. A tech support guy at the dealership says that is an intentional safety function. Do they really think I am going to be staring so hard at the album cover that I’ll get into a wreck? Instead of album art, the screen displays either a generic Bluetooth symbol or USB symbol, depending on how the audio is connected. Sirius/XM, on the other hand, displays either the the logo of the station I’m listening to or album art when connected over CarPlay. Could there possibly be a workaround for this that the tech guy didn’t know about? It seems truly ridiculous, and my 2014 displayed album art all the time.

Seriously, is that really the reason why? I'm been trying to figure out why my album art on MP3s sometimes appears and other times doesn't. I've noticed that sometimes I see album art for the first song, but then not after that but I'm wondering if it's actually corresponding to when I start driving. I'll have to pay attention. 2020 RX 450hL with Navigation and ML here. I really wanted it to display, so this would be a big disappointment if they prevent it.

NONSENSE. Now instead of quickly glancing at the display to see the album art (think icon) I now have to STARE at the screen and read to see what is playing. Complete utter NONSENSE. What idiot made this decision should be fired. I can no longer pick a playlist (like you can pick a radio station) nor a artist while the car is moving. What complete and utter NONSENSE.

I went through the Customization section of the users manual hoping there was a way to enable it but as I expected there isn't a setting for that. However, I can disable safety settings like the Pre-Collision System but can't see album art while I drive!

Perhaps a CL contributor that has installed a device to allow the DVD playback while
driving (not distracting at all, right?) could provide us guidance. If we can fool the car
into thinking we are stopped the Gracenote display will shine on?

it is idiotic.... I am looking to make the Lives Of Lexus/Toyota people miserable for this..... It's not a safety feature.... airbags are a safety feature.... this is Big Brother at it's worst..... Pay 60K plus for a car and you can look at a 12.5" screen, and read stuff, but not look at a 1 inch pic.
This will now be my hobby.... to make people at Lexus/Toyota Uncomfortable
