Hello Everyone,

I have been poking around the forum and have seen a lot of other CarPlay units some of you guys have installed in your car. I reached out to a local facility by me that installs an aftermarket unit from ZZ2. Has anyone of of this manufacture? This unit appears to be the same as the unit from Grom. (As far as providing the same sort of OEM functionality)

​​​​Bumping this thread up. My local car audio installer distributes zz2 and can offer a 3 year guarantee on the install (vs. manufacturer warranty on the others). Has anyone had zz2 installed?

I had this installed on my 2018 ES350 a little over a week ago. It is truly fantastic. This will help me remain happy in my current vehicle for many years to come. You cannot use the steering wheel controls to navigate the system, but the joystick in the Lexus works perfectly fine.

It was expensive to have installed, but I am quite happy I've had it done.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger getting one for my IS350. When you jump back into your car does it automatically connects to your phone?

Most of the time it automatically connects to the infotainment system. Occasionally, it doesn't connect and all that you have to do is hold the Menu button and it will connect in 2 or 3 seconds. I am absolutely trilled I made the decision to have this installed.

I used mine for a long trip and it worked out great! Couple of notes:

1 - Long drives. I should plug it in directly to the ZZ-2 USB connector. Charges my iPhone and improve connection reliability.
2 - I did experience a couple of wireless disconnections but it reconnected
3 - Bluetooth - don't connect the audio device. It might default as your connection to Bluetooth audio instead of CarPlay.
4 - Created an iPhone "automation" to automatically start playing the music
5 - Most importantly - do a hard reset on your iPhone every couple of weeks -

Overall I'm extremely happy and I recommend it.

Why is the hard reset necessary? Do you really mean a factory reset that loses all of the data and settings? That seems like more than a minor inconvenience!

Or do you just mean a restart of the phone?

What happens if you don't reset/restart the phone?

I have a 2015 GS350 and I'm looking at the ZZ-2.
