Wink Rosen vs Clarion....

Hey guys -
I currently have the Latest model Clarion LCD/DVD, im not too happy with it covereing to the AC controls - i thought I could live with it but its a big hassel and the car doesnt look stock with it sitting in the dash - So, i have purchased a Rosen R6500 .... double din LCD/DVD - I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on them - i have seen several good reviews suposedly high quality.... I have seen a few other threads on CL - just wondering the status - see how people like thiers.

Let me know any quirks or FYI's that i need to know about installing - Sorry guys the clarion's allready sold.

Andrew,

Where'd you purchase from and what did you pay if you don't mind me asking. I'm one click away from ordering this myself, and just wanted to see if we had both come up with about the same pricing. You can post here or PM me. Thanks in advance.

Andrew,

Got it in/installed yet? Mine will be here tomorrow, so I'll be sure to snap some pics out the box, during installation, and post installation.

If you've already done yours, any tips?

sorta - I got to installing it and im really frustrated. I got the 'custom' dash kit .... ie i hacked up an autotoys single din kit to accept the double din and it looks great - even screwed it all in and its solid. I wired up the constant from the fused connection to the battery.... remote and ground etc. Except for the life of me - i cant get the rest done, the wires for the speakers dont match from ones on my amp.... i have a 99GS400 with NAK...... I played around with it for prob 2-3 hrs..... pain in the ****. I dont have any other amps so i guess i'm going to loose the factory sub.... and i wont have anymore cash to upgrade the rest of the system any time soon..... School sux........ time constraints on top of that - plus working full time...... i barely have time to sleep

I guess i will try and install it when i can find out what the speaker wires are i get 2 more amps and a new sub.... prob wont be for a while i guess....Sorry man - Let me know how yours goes - As far as the unit itself... pretty nice, the front seems to move a little slow...... it certainly is lacking in the EQ areas... so if your going for a big SQ setup this isnt the HU to attempt it with... Controls are limited to Treble and Bass The screen seems quality though. Let me know how it goes and what kind of setup your tying this into. You might help me out

Ok, got done putting the new toy in a little bit ago.

It's a double-din head unit with 6.5" color screen. Plays DVDs, VCDs, MPEG CDs, MP3 CDs, Audio CDs, built in TV tuner. Unfortunately the factory head unit being a 2.5 din leaves me the little ½ din slot at the bottom I've got to fill with something. I'll probably fab up something to put there next week.
