Looks like the LS430 will be the first Lexus with a satellite radio option. I can't believe how long it's taken Lexus to join other premium car manufacturers to do this!!!

 

I just wish it could be a add-on for existing '01-'03 LS430s that plugs into the existing tuner and is controlled from the navigation screen, like the AM/FM tuner. I wonder what XM antenna the '04 will have where it will be installed?

 

I'm not totally convinced that the '04 XM radio can't be retro-fitted to, at least, an '03. There just isn't enough technical information avail to the public right now. I intend on keeping this high on my "things to research" list as more info becomes available.


I just picked up an '04 LS430 sales brochure and the XM radio is listed as a separate option like the wheel locks and trunk mat (i.e. it will not be part of a package) It will be interesting to see if this is something that is installed at the factory or at the dealer.

 

I thought the website said "dealer installed option" by the XM radio option. Heck, Infiniti gives you a choice between Sirius or XM.

I hope that is the case because as a dealer intalled option, there will be detailed install instructions that will be much more helpful than the service manual in determining if it can be retro-fitted to the '01-'03.
