aftermarket radio in '99 lx470?
Has anyone installed an aftermarket radio/cd player on their lx470?
I've been looking at some, but not sure if they will fit. Some pictures of your console would be helpful.
Thanks,
Robert

Check with this guy: Link to LX470 photo gallery
Also, put a post in the audio and video forum and you'll likely get some great advice.

I did
I put in an Alpine CD/MP3/satellite radio enabled system. There is a CD changer attached under the front seat and then a single CD player at the dash. It doesn't have a cassette player.
My Lexus CD changer went bad and I decided not to replace it with another one for fear that it too would go bad (after reading some on this forum). I have had the new one in for close to a year and it's working fine.
It doesn't fit the dash as well (because it's smaller), so the installer put some black plastic around the player - I think it looks fine.

I have a pioneer premiere cd/mp3 player. It will take a while to get it installed, most dealers (at least in Oklahoma) have had very little experience with installs on head units. I had a problem with the antenna receiving power and correct signal, other than that not a problem. They will fit, you can always make a molding or put wood trim around it.

I, too, installed an Alpine MP3/XM radio system in my 2000 470.
What I did-
-used a new rectangular plate where the old Nakamichi head unit once lived to cover the big opening, cut out a DIN sized portion in the bottom, and used the factory brackets to securely install the Alpine head unit.
-pulled the Nakamichi 4 channel plus sub amp out (it is under the passenger seat)- replaced it with my Soundstream 5 ch. amp.
-continue to use ALL factory speakers INCLUDING the subwoofer in the back.
The sound is FAR superior to stock, the convenience of MP3 and XM is terrific, and (I already owned the Soundstream amp from a prior car) I have less than $700.00 in the project including $200.00 paid just for installation labor. I'll net from the $700./00 whatever I can sell my old Nakamichi gear for.
Go for it, you definitely won't be disappointed.
