NAV Map v15.1 Update
I know the typical talk every year is for the latest NAV map updates to come out every year in the Fall. However, I'm looking for a better timeline than just 'Fall'. Does anyone know when this Fall (within a week or two) the latest map updates will be available?

Version 15.1 is the newest map update available for purchase from your Lexus dealer for any Lexus vehicle using GEN4 and higher hardware. It was released Fall 2015.

FYI - My dealership's (Park Place Lexus - Plano, TX) parts department has received hundreds of the v15.1 Map Updates. The price is $169.00 plus $100 Installation charge, which I don't mind paying.
My 2013 GS 350 currently has the original v12 NAV map, which is now 3 years old and is showing it's age with all the many Interstate/highway/toll road/street changes and new POIs in the DFW area. I'll be glad to have it updated...

From what I'm told it's a bit more time consuming than you might think and takes much longer than a few minutes. If you've ever updated a stand-alone GPS (e.g. Garmin) the new mapping and POIs, etc. will take about an hour minimum to install. I suspect updating the Lexus NAV is very similar, thus the $100 installation labor charge...even though the technician can be doing something else for most of the ~1 hour downloading time. Also, I'm told that Lexus downloads the new map/POIs, etc. from one of their master tech computers with a special delivery device that plugs into the GEN7 NAV USB port (for Gen4 GS 350) - not from an individual memory stick device.

The same experience with my '14 LS and my '16 LX is not better. Toyota should decide to unlock their navigation so we could use it while driving as on many other cars. Trying to use voice recognition is much more dangerous and stressful than a few clicks.

That's doable: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-override.html
but Toyota really needs to step it up. It's their screwup that causes the dangerous condition. If voice activation worked it'd be one thing...
