I just changed my springs without changing my shocks. Come to find out bad idea the stock shocks are to long and bottoming out. Trying to save money has now cost me more money I have to pay twice for the same job. Anyways, I have Blitz springs with a 2 inch drop (which makes the car look awesome) I need to know if the Bilstein Sport shocks can handle a 2 inch drop without bottoming out? If not, what shocks would you suggest?

I will never cheap out on my car again!

 

That's what this forum is for my friend. If you have posted your spring drop, a ton of us would have encouraged you to get shocks as well because the stock ones won't be able to handle it...

Anyway, enough "we told you so" talk, the Bilsteins should be fine with the Blitz springs. You may want to ask Blitz what they recommend for their spring/shock combo just to be sure but Bilstein's should work. Good Luck! Remember....Ask questions here FIRST! RA- I am not exactly sure what the exact drop is I am going by eye sight. If anything I might be a little modest at 2inches it could be 2.5 inches. Either way the car looks great lowered this amount. I just need to get the right shocks and everything will be ok.

in upgrading to other springs, such as eibach (1" drop) do i need new shocks too?

It's better if you could upgrade the shocks with the springs. If not, you can change it after the stock shocks wear out.

According to some you may not have to upgrade your shocks for a 1" drop. IMO for the little amount you save now it could possibly cost you a lot more later. It makes no sense not to upgrade your shocks when you upgrade your springs. Why? The first reason to change your cars suspension should be to improve its overall handling performance not its appearance. Which was my first mistake I was appearance oriented instead of thinking about the cars performance. Now I have to pay for the labor again for the same thing I had done 3 days ago. My second mistake was cheaping out on my GS400 trying to save a little $$$ has now cost me more $$$. If I did it right the first time I could have bought other part ie: strut bar. My third mistake was not asking for the expert advice that is available here on CL.

I wish all this brillance was with me 3 days ago. LOL

I will never cheap out on my Lexus again. I will never add another mod to my Lexus without the expert advice of CL.

BTW I called L-Tuned today and the guy I talked to there said that the L-tuned shock CANNOT handle a 2 inch drop.

If anyone is interested in the L-Tuned Shocks I can get you a really good price on them.
