I prefer Club Lexus to IS300.net for various reasons, but I just checked the link and it sounds as though I had the same information as "darthvader". He's a dealership also.

And everyone complains about not enough horsepower on the IS, but then when Lexus is about to deliver, everyone is in disbelief..no, it's not possible...it's doubtful. Sheesh. Well, BELIEVE. It's coming. Lexus is going to step up just like everyone wanted.

I know the new V6 is a direct Injection design, but still 265HP is a LOT for a 2.5L engine and I can only imagine how high you'll have to revv to get that 265. Direct Injection allows for high compression, but a 2.5L V6 with 265HP would be more than 100HP per litre...which is more than the realistic limit. The M3 and Celica GT-S are the only two cars that come to mind with 100HP per litre, and this new IS is supposed to have even more? Hmmm...I think not.

I have two problems with this whole thread, 1) being 265HP from 2.5L and 2) being that Lexus plans on using superchargers. I guess forced induction isn't out of the question, but that'd be pretty "un-Lexus like". A 2 door LS with a S/C V8 seems way too good to be true, but we'll see!

I think from the IS we'll see either the 2.5L V6 (210HP) as standard or the 3.0L V-6 (245HP) as standard with (for sure) the 3.5L V6 as the optional V6, an optional 4.3L V8 with 325-340HP, and then a top end IS "GT" with 400+ Hp.

Subaru gets 300HP from a 2.5L and some Evo versions get 300HP from a 2.0L...With engineering, anything is possible.

Well, with turbos anything is possible. The new M5, M3, Celica GT-S, and S2000 are the only N/A cars I know that are 100hp/L under $100,000. It would seriously be a big deal if the IS had that efficient of an engine, but Toyota's done it before, and I pray they can do it again. My guess just is that they can't do it without FI.

i think he was talking about NA engines, not FI

but i think 2.5L displacement with 6 cylinders is so doable for TOYOTA engineering even NA.

honda 2.0 liter K20A got 210HPS this year with only 4 cylinders
and s2000 2.2 got 240 i believe

I really hope that is a 2.5L I6, I really dont want Toyota to abandon the JZ engine family.

Thanks for the good info.

Edit JZ family are all 3.0L

sadly, they are i think.

since jzs are iron blocks, heavy, and they dont get good MPG.

but it's one heck of an engine for FI.

Toyota can easily build a 100hp+/L I6 NA engine, it's just whether they feel there is a market worth pursuing.

Cant wait to see the new Tundra and IS, the time has come to put the competition in their place.

Not sure yet. I haven't seen any official phots of it. All the RX400H and new GS attention is dominating right now.

thanks alot Eliza, great news.

265hp 2.5 liter engine is just speculation by IS300.net guy I believe. E has always been a person with reliable sources so her credibility is strong. Go Eliza!

Sounds interesting on the IS 2.5 V6 with 265hp.

I can't wait to see the new line up. Especially for GS.

You mean an AWD GS330, don't you....not 300? I prefer the in-line 6 myself but I understand they're doing away with it.
Thought you guys didn't like to see checkbooks (LOL). You make a lot more through financing.
